Rules and Policies

DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP CHILDREN

All children must be walked into the building by an adult. Please wait with your child in the hall until it is time for their class to begin. No child will be dismissed unless a parent is present. Please drive slowly on the lane in front of the building. Cars should not park in front of the building or idle there while waiting for your child.

LOBBY ETIQUETTE

We have many parents and siblings waiting in the lobby. As you can see, the lobby cannot always hold all of these people.  If your child is school-age and does not need your assistance using the bathroom during class, please consider leaving the lobby while your child enjoys their class.  There is a playground, walking paths, tennis courts and lots of benches on the grounds. Please allow all to have free passage through the lobby and do not allow your children to play or block the floor and door area. Also, please be considerate of the office staff and others by keeping the noise level and activity to a minimum.

PRESCHOOL CLASS PARENTS

If your child is 4 or under you must stay in the building to assist with using the restrooms with your child. If your child is 5 or 6 they must be able to use the restroom on their own with no assistance in getting dressed if you would like to leave the building. Please stay if your child cannot use the restrooms or dress themselves independently.

OBSERVATION OF YOUR CHILD DURING CLASS

We will have an observation day on the last day of class. In keeping with safesport guidelines and the privacy of our students we ask that all parents reframe from taking video/pictures during class until observation week (please be mindful to keep other students out of your videos/pictures).

Until those weeks, we ask that you remain in the lobby. You may peek in only in the cubby area. Be mindful that gymnasts need to be able to access their cubbies and coaches and children need to safely walk through the cubby area. The instructor will remind you the week before Observation Week so that you may come with family, friends and cameras.

DRESS POLICY

Girls should wear a leotard or elastic waist shorts with a t-shirt long enough to tuck in. Boys may wear sweat clothes or shorts and a t-shirt. If it is cold, sweat clothes may be worn. No socks, tights or jewelry may be worn. All long hair must be pulled back from the face. Small studs are the only acceptable earrings. No 1/2 shirts, sports bras, or mid drift area showing for class. No thin strapped tank tops. A leotard is the best and safest option.

MAKE-UP POLICY

Due to the fact that we have over 700 children taking classes with us, we do not allow any classes to be made up that are missed for illness or any other reason. If a class has been closed due to inclement weather or other reasons (like when we host a meet), it will be made up at the end of the session.  We do not follow Harford County school closing policy except in the case of inclement weather.

GYMNASTICS MEETS

We will be hosting a Gymnastics Meets throughout the year. Our Maryland Rose Meet is the weekend before Thanksgiving and our Fantasy Meet is typically the first week of March. Come watch the hundreds of gymnasts compete from around the region.

OLYMPIC DAY

Each year, ACPR holds “Olympic Day”.   All gymnasts are invited (at no cost) to participate in a series of activities that are designed for their level of gymnastic abilities. Everyone will receive a medal.  Every year 200 plus children participate in this event which runs continuously for about three hours.  It takes around 30 minutes for your child to go through and you may come at any time during that time period. Only gymnasts currently registered with ACPR may sign up for Olympic Day!

PARENT AND TOT CLASSES

No cell phone use during classes and while assisting in our parent and Tot classes. Only one parent or adult can assist during class. Please make note of our video and photo policy posted at the rec center. Please be considerate of your other parents and their children.  We do not allow any videoing from the cubby or doorway areas.

ILLNESS

If your child is sick with anything please leave them home.  We will send home any children in class that show  active symptoms of any illness.
