Churchville Gymnasts Have Winning Performances at East Coast Classic Meet
ACPR gymnastics individuals and
teams had great performances at the annual East Coast Classic Gymnastic
competition on Feb 8,9 and 10th in
ACPR’s Level 4 team continued its great string of wins, securing the team gold with a combined team score of 112.975, besting the next placed (West Virginia) team by more than a point. There were many great individual performances with three ACPR level 4 girls winning first place all around honors. The results are listed below.
At level 4, ACPR had 27 girls competing in two different sessions.
In the 8-year old division, Hannah Wenzel had a great meet. In her session, Hannah placed 1st on vault with a 9.2, 5th on bars with an 8.5, 4th on beam with an 8.775 and 1st on floor exercise with a 9.2 performance. Hannah finished first in the all around with a 35.675 total score. Caitlin McLaughlin had a good meet finishing 4th on vault with an 8.9, 5th on beam with an 8.45, 9th on floor with an 8.8 and 8th in the all around with a 33.8 effort. Courtney Bonsiero finished 10th on vault with an 8.6 and had a 32.75 all around effort. Kendall Andrews finished 8th on floor with an 8.85 performance. In the 81/2 year old age, Jennifer Liszewski finished 4th on vault with a 9.1, second on bars with an 8.65 5th on floor with an 8.65 and 7th in the all around with a 33.5 effort.
In the 9-year-old age, Maddy Alascio had a good meet winning gold on vault with a 9.3, gold on bars with a 8.9 effort, 2nd on floor exercise with a 9.2 and 5th on beam with an 8.7. Maddy won the silver in the all around with a 36.1 total score. In the same age group, Kendall Archer was 6th on bars with an 8.225 and 10th in the all around with a 32.6 score. Kaylie Linman earned 7th place on bars with an 8.1 and 8th place on floor with an 8.45 performance.
In the 10 and up age, Emily Goheen had a good meet. Emily placed 9th on bars with an 8.45, 5th on beam with a 9.05 and 7th on floor with a 9.075 performance. Emily finished 7th overall with a 35.375 all around score. Rebecca Reinhardt finished 3rd on bars with a 9.0 effort and 10th on beam with an 8.8. Rebecca finished 10th all around with a score of 34.7.
In another competitive session, Emily Pascoe, an 8-year-old, had a great meet, finishing 1st on vault with a 9.25, 2nd on bars with a 9.05, 4th on beam with an 8.65 and tied for 2nd on floor with a 9.425 effort. Emily finished second overall with a score of 36.375. Also 8-years-old, Kylie Ryan finished 9th on vault with an 8.85, 3rd on bars with a 9.0, tied for 4th on beam with an 8.65 and on floor with a 9.15. Kylie was 4th all around with a 35.65.
In the 81/2
year-old age, ACPR had 6 girls competing with three of the girls being the top
all around winners. Bethany Wheeler had
a great competition, winning three first place awards.
In the 9
year–old agegroup, six girls competed for ACPR. Erin Paradiso had a
good meet finishing 7th on vault with a 9.15 and 2nd on
beam with a 9.35.
In the 10 year old and up age, ACPR had three girls compete. Gabrielle Ritz had a great meet, finishing first in the all around with a 36.8 total. She also finished first on bars with a 9.4 and tied for first on vault with a 9.45 effort. Gabrielle was 2nd on floor with a 9.15 and 3rd on beam with an 8.8. April Scott finished just behind Gabrielle in the all around with a 36.575. April was first on beam with a 9.425, second on floor with a 9.15 and 2nd on bars with a 9.3., and 8th on vault with an 8.7. Julia Becker finished 5th in the all around with a 35.15. Julia was 5th on vault with a 9.05, on bars with an 8.55, and 6th on floor with an 8.65. Julia also tied for 5th on floor with an 8.9.
In the level 5 competition, ACPR won the team competition with an outstanding score of 112.???. Several girls had great meets as well winning the All around gold medals in their age groups.
In the 8-year-old age, level 5 Christina Riggins continued her great run of gold medal all around performances. Christina finished 1st on vault with a 9.4, on bars with a 9.5 and on beam with an excellent 9.65 performance. She finished second on floor with a 9.2 and won the first place all around medal with a combined score of 37.75. Kaitlyn Surasky had a good meet, finishing 4th on vault with an 8.5 and on bars with an 8.6. She finished 8th on floor with an 8.1 and 9th on beam with an 8.15 effort. Kaitlyn was 5th in the all around with a 33.35 performance.
In the 9-year-old age group, Maggie Palfi, another first year level 5, finished first on bars with an 8.75, 3rd on beam with an 8.825 and tied for 4th on floor with an 8.35 effort. Maggie finished 3rd all around with a total of 33.625. Erin McClosky finished 6th on vault with an 8.25, 7th on beam with an 8.3, and 7th in the all around with a 32.35. McKenzi Cox had a good performance, finishing first on vault with an 8.7, 6th on floor with an 8.325 and 6th in the all around with a 32.625. Taylor Layman finished 2nd on floor exercise. with an 8.55 and 5th on beam with an 8.7.
In the 11
year-old age, ACPR girls won 4 out of the top 6 all around awards, finishing 1st,
2nd and 3rd on the stands. Taylor Robertshaw
continued her great season by having another excellent meet, finishing 1st
on all events and in the all around with an outstanding 37.325 total.
In the 12+ age group, Morgan Peschek won the gold on beam with a 9.1 performance, and the silver on floor with an 8.825. Morgan finished 4th overall with a 34.225 total score. Sydney Stone finished 7th on bars with a 7.95 and 8th in the all around with a 32.05. Bianca Montgomery, new to competition this season, finished 6th on vault with an 8.45 and 6th on beam with a 7.75.
In the
level 6, 7-9 year-old competition, Alyssa Caristia
finished 6th on beam with an 8.9 performance and tied for 8th
on bars with a 7.9. Alyssa finished 9th overall with a 33.85 total
score. Jordan Salamone finished tied for 3rd
on floor with a 9.125 and for 5th on vault with an 8.8.
In the 10 year old age, Tessa Henry had a nice meet, finishing 3rd on vault with a 9.0, 2nd on beam with an outstanding 9.5 performance, and 5th on floor with an 8.8. Tessa was 5th overall with a 35.1 total. Megan Surasky finished 5th on vault with an 8.8.
Abby Langenfelder finished 3rd on vault in the 12 year old division with a 9.15 and first on floor with a 9.2 performance. Abby was 6th all around with a 33.65. Kathy Kammerer finished 1st on vault with a 9.25 and tied for 7th place on beam with an 8.675 effort.
In the 13+ age at level 6, Caitlin Stevens finished 2nd on beam with a 9.05 and tied for 3rd on floor with an 8.7. Caitlin was 7th overall with a 32.5 total. Ashley Webb did not compete due to illness.
At the Optional levels (level 7-10) 14 ACPR gymnasts competed. At level 7, in the 7-10 age, Erika Slotnick had another great performance. Erika finished 4th on floor with a 9.2, 3rd on bars with a 9.225 5th on vault with a 9.25 and 6th on beam with an 8.95. Erika was 4th in the all around with a combined score of 36.625. At age 11, Dashia Murphy had a good meet. Dashia won vault with an outstanding 9.5 front-handspring, was 6th on beam with an 8.5 and on floor with a 8.425. She was also 7th on bars with an 8.0 and 6th in the all around with a 34.425 total score.
In the 13+ age, Anita Reilly had another good meet as well, finishing second in the all around with an outstanding 36.125 total. Anita also was 1st beam with a 9.4, 3rd on floor with a 9.0 3rd on bars with an 8.475 and 4th on vault with a 9.3. In the same age group, Michelle Earle finished 3rd on beam with an 8.85, 6th on floor with an 8.80 and 8th in the all around with a 33.10. Brianna Haffey was 6th on beam with an 8.3, 9th on vault with an 8.5, 8th on floor also with an 8.5. Candis Cregar was 8th on vault with an 8.7 and 7th on floor with an 8.65 performance. Haleigh Schilling finished 5th on floor with an 8.825 and 9th on bars with a 7.45. Tayler Appleby finished 4th on beam with an 8.6 and 9th on floor with a 7.6.
In the level 8 competition, four girls competed for ACPR. In the 8-11 age, Gabrielle Jordan had another good meet, finishing 2nd in the all around with a 35.475 total score. Gabby won beam with a 9.2, was 3rd on vault with her tuck Yurchenko scoring an 8.55 and 3rd on floor with a 9.05 effort. She was 4th on bars with an 8.675.
In the 14+ age, Carrie Spangler continued her good first year level 8 season, finishing 5th in the all around with a 34.40 total. Carrie tied for 2nd on beam with an 8.85 and was 5th on bars with an 8.4 effort. Carrie also Tied for 7th place on floor with an 8.85. Shannon Famini, finished 10th on bars with an 8.1 effort. Chelsea Hicks finished 9th on beam with an 8.4 and tied for 9th on vault with an 8.3 effort.
At level 9, 14 year-old Brooke Schulz finished 3rd on bars with an 8.15 and on vault with her piked Tsukahara scoring an 8.9. Brooke also finished 6th on floor with an 8.725 and 4th all around with a 33.375 total.
In the level 10 competition, 14 year-old Emily Heller had an excellent meet. Emily scored a 9.25 on vault performing an excellent “Layout” Yurchenko, and finished 2nd on bars with an 8.825. Emily also finished 4th on beam with an excellent 9.3 and on floor with with an exceptional 9.375 performance. Her event performances earned her the silver medal in the all around with a 36.75 total score. Emily’s all around score was the second highest for any level 10 in the East Coast Classic Meet. Because of her performance, Emily also qualified for event finals in all four events that were held the following night. Emily repeated a very good performance on the next evening at event finals, especially with an outstanding 9.4 floor exercise performance.
